Human rights focus of roundtable series

The Center for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Associated Students of WSU, will facilitate a series of roundtable discussions this semester to engage the community on topics of human rights.

The first discussion, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, Sept. 7, in Lighty 405, will focus on the topic of free speech.

“I am hoping these discussions will increase understanding of and awareness about current human rights challenges and allow for the airing of different perspectives,” said CHR Director Raúl Sánchez. “Those of us who work in CHR might also learn about human rights issues that may not constitute violations, but need administrative attention all the same.”

The roundtable discussions are open to students, faculty, staff and the general public. Look for upcoming discussions in the series in the What’s Happening section of WSU Today.
