University Recreation Center is helping students and community members gear up for summer by offering lifeguard training, water safety instruction, and adult swim classes.
The lifeguard training program includes first aid and safety, CPR for the professional rescuer, oxygen administration and AED. The cost of the program, which includes the price of a textbook and pocket mask, is $175 for SRC members and $210 for non-members. The two sessions for lifeguard training are offered May 8 and June 5. Session one runs through May 26 and meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Other options for students and community members are the adult swim classes and the water safety instructor program.
Adult swim classes, which cost $30, are offered May 10-June 14 on Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
The water safety instructor program is designed to facilitate instructors to lead children and adults in swim lessons. The class is offered May 8-13 and costs $200 for SRC members and $235 for non-members.
