Call for Abstracts for WSU Academic Showcase

PULLMAN, Wash. — Organizers of Washington State University’s second annual Academic Showcase are calling for abstracts from WSU faculty, staff and students for the event’s three-hour juried poster session.

Starting at 9 a.m. April 1 in the Compton Union Building, the session will give those selected a forum to showcase their recently published and ongoing research and creative activities.

The online site (www.showcase.wsu.edu) to submit abstracts will open Jan. 10 and close Feb. 25.  Submitters will be notified of acceptance March 7.  Complete guidelines for abstract submission will be available Jan. 10.  Mary Sanchez-Lanier, College of Sciences, is chairing the subcommittee planning this event.  Serving with Lanier are Tom Brigham, president’s office; Jerman Rose, College of Business and Economics, and John Nilson, School of Molecular Biosciences.

The Academic Showcase will be followed by a university luncheon, featuring the Distinguished Faculty Address. The luncheon will be free, but space is limited and reservations must be made in advance.

Showcase events on April 1 will culminate with a banquet, “Celebrating Excellence – An Evening Honoring Our Faculty and Staff,” in Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. Recipients of the university’s top faculty and staff awards — The Eminent Faculty Award, the Sahlin Faculty Excellence Awards, the Marian E. Smith Faculty Achievement Award, the President’s Employee Excellence Awards and the presenter of the Distinguished Faculty Address — as well as newly tenured and promoted faculty, including those named Regents’ Professors, will be honored during the banquet.
