Folk, bluegrass artist Jenn Adams to perform

Singer/songwriter Jenn Adams, accompanied by her acoustic guitar, will perform noon – 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, on Glenn Terrell Mall.

Adams will present songs from her two CDs “In the Pool” and “Water,” blending folk, blues and jazz into her own arrangements.

Adams has toured throughout the West working solo as well as a backup singer, studio musician and occasional bass player for a variety of bands.

The artist grew up listening to everything from big-band sounds to Otis Redding to Mozart and John Denver.

“I was about 10 when I fell in love with Wes Montgomery and Miles Davis. But I was also influenced by pop-rock groups and singer/songwriters like Bonnie Raitt, Ricki Lee Jones and Joni Mitchell,” Adams said.

Adams won first place at the 2001 Folk and Bluegrass Festival Songwriters Contest in Park City, Utah, and was selected as a finalist at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriting Contest in Lyons, Colo.

Adams performance is a free event sponsored by Campus Involvement as part of WSU’s summer Music on the Mall series.
