‘Rainforest’ performance Oct. 13

The David Taylor Dance Theatre’s “Rainforest graces the stage at Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum on Sunday, Oct. 13. The two-hour dance/theater odyssey journeys from the dense rainforest canopy to the lush forest floor that is teeming with exotic and wonderful creatures.

Noted for its thought-provoking and strikingly original work, Taylor’s “Rainforest” blends beautiful costumes, amazing props and stunning lighting effects with original music and dance to create the perfect entertainment for the entire family.

“Rainforest” has become a phenomenon, rivaling even Taylor’s production of “The Nutcracker” as the company’s most popular offering.

The artists wanted to create a work that would pay homage to the magic and fragility of this incredible ecosystem. To accomplish this, they divided the performance into two parts. Part I reveals the lush environment, with dancers portraying a host of living creatures. Part II is devoted to the native peoples who have lived in the rain forest for centuries.
