WSU Pharmacy Students Head to Olympia

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University pharmacy students travel to Olympia Friday (Feb. 1) to take part in the fifth annual “Pharmacy Day” at the state capital.

More than 15 WSU pharmacy students are expected to take part in several activities sponsored by the Washington State Pharmacy Association from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Rotunda. The demonstrations will show pharmacists training to provide bone density screening, body composition measurements, hypertension checks and cholesterol checks.

The students also will talk with state legislators to lobby against proposed legislation that would reduce reimbursement levels to pharmacists treating Medicaid patients.

Pharmacy Day participants use the day to call attention to the other services pharmacists provide along with dispensing medication.
