Holiday Events Bring Cougar Spirit to Puget Sound

SEATTLE, Wash. — Washington State University brings a slice of the WSU experience to western Washington this weekend with three events for Cougar alumni and fans.

The Cougar Holiday Experience is a series of seasonal gatherings in Olympia, Seattle and Bellevue, Dec. 14-16, as WSU supporters prepare for the football team’s appearance in the Wells Fargo Sun Bowl on Dec. 31.

Each event features an extended selection of Cougar merchandise — including Wells Fargo Sun Bowl gear — as distributed by the Bookie, WSU student bookstore, and usually unavailable in the Seattle area.

Limited supplies of Cougar Gold Cheese also will on sale at each of the Cougar Holiday Experience events along with wreaths, swags, candles and more. Among other activities, WSU’s mascot, “Butch the Cougar,” will don a Santa suit at each event. Professional photo packages with “Santa Butch” will be available at both the Seattle and Bellevue functions. Visitors to the Olympia festivity are encouraged to bring their own cameras.

The opening event will be in the Olympia area Friday, Dec. 14, from 7-10 p.m. at the Chinook UniServ Council Building, 5220 Capitol Boulevard in Tumwater. Seattle’s Elliott Grand Hyatt is the site of the Saturday, Dec. 15, function from noon-4 p.m. The Elliott is located in the heart of Downtown Seattle’s shopping district at 721 Pine, just blocks away from Nordstrom, the Bon Marche, and across the street from Pacific Place.

The final Cougar Holiday Experience event will be at the Hyatt Regency’s Wintergarden Atrium Sunday, Dec. 16, from noon to 4 p.m. The Wintergarden, at 900 Bellevue Way, features the City of Bellevue’s official Christmas tree, and is across the street from Bellevue Square.

There is no cost to attend any of the events.
