PULLMAN, Wash. — Northwest Public Radio, a service of Washington State University, will provide a new public radio service to Ellensburg early next year.
The Federal Communications Commission has granted Northwest Public Radio a construction permit for a new translator serving the Ellensburg area. The translator, to be located on Manastash Ridge, will broadcast Northwest Public Radio’s NPR News Service, which provides a full schedule of news, talk and information programs. Once the necessary local funds are raised, the translator is expected to sign on this spring.
“Our listeners in Ellensburg have told us that this is a service they want to have, so we’re very pleased to be able to provide it,” said station manager Roger Johnson.
In addition to programs like “Morning Edition” and “All Things Considered,” the service includes the talk shows “Weekday,” “The Diane Rehm Show,” “Talk of the Nation,” “The Todd Mundt Show” and “To the Best of Our Knowledge.” Other programs are “Sound Money,” “On the Media” and “The Savvy Traveler.” The schedule also provides entertainment programs like “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” and “Whad’Ya Know?”
