WSU’s 13th Annual Women of Color Day Banquet Set for March 1

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s 13th annual Women of Color Day, presented by the Coalition for Women Students, will lead off Women’s History Month March 1.

A banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Compton Union Building Cascade Room 123. The CWS will present an award to women of color on the WSU campus who have demonstrated leadership, advocacy and mentorship.

The Women of Color Award recognizes the achievements and contributions made by individuals in supporting the success and struggle of women of color at WSU.

The CWS honors women of color because they have the potential to bring success to respective communities by imparting their experiences as racial/ethnic group members, according to organizers. The coalition takes a stand against prejudice and affirmatively demonstrates awareness of the connectedness among African American, Chicana/Latina, Native American and Asian Pacific American women.

Luncheon tickets are $10. To reserve tickets, contact the Women’s Resource Center at 335-6849.
