Spooky Swing Planned for Halloween

PULLMAN, Wash. — Lee Press-On & the Nails, a live swing band from San
Francisco, will highlight Halloween night in the Washington State University
Compton Union Building Ballroom. Dancers can get in a few lessons at 8 p.m.
and then swing away from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Oct. 31 event.

“This is one of the best-known swing bands there is,” said Dylan McCann,
president of the WSU Swing Devils club.

Tickets will cost $10 at the door or $8 if purchased in advance from members of
the Swing Devils club or by e-mail at SwingDevils@hotmail.com. In addition to
the live swing music and dancing, partygoers can win door prizes and compete
in a Halloween costume contest, McCann said.

The Swing Devils, a group of about 50 dancers from Pullman and Moscow,
meet for Thursday night Swing Nights in the upstairs of CJ’s in Moscow.
Dancers at any skill level or age are welcome, McCann said.

“We’re there to have fun,” he said. “Whoever wants to have fun can join us.”

There are no official membership fees for the club, which has chapters at WSU
and the University of Idaho, McCann said. Whoever signs up on the mailing
list is considered a member. For more information about the Halloween event or
the Swing Devils, visit the club Web site at http://go.to/swingdevils.
