Manoranjan Appointed to Washington Technology Center’s Board of Directors

PULLMAN, Wash.– Washington State University’s V.S. “Mano” Manoranjan has been
appointed by Gov. Gary Locke to the board of directors for the Washington Technology Center.
Manoranjan is noted for his interdisciplinary research related to biological and
environmental sciences and chemical and mechanical engineering.
He was named associate dean for research and academic affairs of the College of Sciences
effective Aug. 16. He has served as chairman of the department of pure and applied mathematics
since 1996.
Manoranjan earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sri Lanka in 1977 and a
doctoral degree in 1982 from the University of Dundee, Scotland, both in mathematics.
Manoranjan was a research fellow at Oxford University, England, and was a faculty member
in chemical and process engineering at the University of Surrey, England. He came to WSU as an
assistant professor of mathematics in 1989.
Initiated by the Washington State Legislature in 1983, the Washington Technology Center
works with businesses and academic researchers to fund and facilitate technology development
and commercialization that is of economic benefit statewide.
