Sport Town to Provide Free In-Line Skates for Dedication

PULLMAN, Wash. – Sport Town will provide 60 free rentals of in-line skates for those wishing to skate to the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail dedication on Saturday, April 4. The “This Rail Is Your Trail” dedication will take place at noon on the trail at a crossing two miles from Moscow and five miles from Pullman.
Located in Pullman’s Wheatland Mall, Sport Town will be open at 10 a.m. the day of the dedication. People wishing to use the free rentals must visit the store that morning and return the skates by 6 p.m. Skaters or their guardians must have a valid driver’s license and provide a blank check or credit card number as a refundable deposit. Both adult and children’s sizes 12 or larger will be available.
“We wanted to be part of this community celebration and thought this would be a great way to help people enjoy the trail and try in-line skating,” said Joel Warwick, Sport Town manager.
Beginning at 11 a.m., the Washington State University and University of Idaho marching bands will lead walkers to the dedication from two sites. The UI band will depart from the Moscow trailhead at Perimeter Drive. The WSU band will depart from Sunshine Road. Those who wish to join the WSU band may park in the gravel lot behind Valley Cement or take the 10:40 shuttle bus from the Coliseum or City Hall to Sunshine Road.
