Apple Cup Bet

WHO, WHAT:
Washington State University President Samuel H. Smith will be president of the University of Washington for a day on March 3.

WHY:
University of Washington President Richard L. McCormick and President Smith bet dinner and one day’s leadership of their respective universities over the outcome of last November’s Apple Cup football game. The Cougars defeated the Huskies 41-35.

The presidents will use the day to discuss important higher education issues for both universities, including the future of higher education in Washington, opportunities for WSU/UW collaboration, distance education and technology, and enrollment issues.

WHEN, WHERE:

6:30 p.m., March 2: President McCormick and his executive staff will make dinner for President Smith and his staff at McCormick’s home on the UW campus.

8:45 a.m., March 3: President Smith will arrive at the UW President’s office and lead a cabinet meeting of the executive staffs of both universities. Special presentations and press availability prior to and during opening of meeting.
