WSU Press Holiday Book Fair Set for Dec. 10

PULLMAN, Wash.–The Washington State University Press will host its sixth annual Holiday Book Fair on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Compton Union Building .
Ladd Hamilton, author of “Snowbound,” and Stephen Lyons, author of “Landscape of the Heart,” will be on hand to sign copies of their books. All WSU Press books, including the press’ popular Washington cookbook, “Wandering and Feasting,” will be discounted 20-30 percent.
Among the press’ newest releases is “My Heart on the Yukon River” by Monique Dykstra who, during the summer of 1993, paddled 2,000 miles down the Yukon River, photographing and interviewing the unique individuals she met in the northern wilderness.
Ladd Hamilton’s new book, “Snowbound,” “a detailed, well-paced recreation of the Carlin hunting party fiasco of 1893,” according to Kirkus Reviews, was also praised by the Associated Press as “an adventure with depth.” Released early this fall, “Snowbound” has already gone into a second printing. Hamilton’s first book, “This Bloody Deed,” will also be available at the fair.
Another recent release, “Witch of Kodakery: The Photography of Myra
Albert Wiggins, 1869-1956″ by Portland author Carole Glauber, is the biography of Northwest photographer and member of the Photo-Secession who, during the early part of this century, gained international recognition for her pictorial photographs.
Other new and recent titles include “Beach of Heaven: A Wahkiakum County History” by Irene Martin, “Valley Walking: Notes on the Land” by Northwest Public Radio commentator Robert Schnelle, “Ranald MacDonald: Pacific Rim Adventurer” by JoAnn Roe and “Trail to the Klondike” by Don McCune. These books and many others will be available at the Dec. 10 event.
