Yates Scholarship Available for Women

PULLMAN, Wash.- Washington State University’s Intensive American Language Center reports a scholarship for female residents of Whitman, Latah or Nez Perce counties.
The Violet M. Yates Scholarship Fund was established by the Yates’ family in celebration of her 80th birthday and her lifelong concern for the education of foreign-born women residing in the area.
The applicant must hold a degree from a secondary institution in which English is not the language of instruction.
The recipient must use the approximatley $500 scholarship for tuition at the IALC during one of its two eight-week sessions. She will be placed in one of six levels of proficiency ranging from beginning to high advanced English instruction. Beginners are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, two local letters of recommendation, notarized translated transcripts of the highest educational degree obtained in the home country and a financial statement. All documentation must be received at IALC by Nov. 11.
