School of Hospitality Business Management hosts week of hospitality events

WSU’s School of Hospitality Business Management will kick off its annual Hospitality Week of events on Monday, Feb. 10, including the Burtenshaw Distinguished Lecture.

The School of Hospitality Business Management at Washington State University will kick off its annual Hospitality Week of events on Monday, Feb. 10, including the Burtenshaw Distinguished Lecture that will address leadership and career success pathways in hospitality. All events are open to the public and WSU students.

On Monday at 2 p.m. in the CUB Junior Ballroom, hospitality industry experts will discuss ways students can prepare for successful careers within the hospitality industry. The lecture will be livestreamed and recorded on Zoom and available to watch on the Industry Expert Panel website. Panelists include:

    Club Management Association of America
  • Renee Petitjean, recruiting manager
    Marriott International
  • Margaret Bader (’02), event manager and guest experience captain
    Fire & Vine Hospitality
  • Joshua Rockwell (’09), food and beverage director
    Coeur d’Alene Resort
  • Molly Wolniewicz (’01), marketing director
    Aegis Living

The Carson College of Business will host Career Networking Night, presented by the Burtenshaw family, at 4:30 p.m. in the CUB Senior Ballroom. The event is targeted toward business students but open to all WSU majors. Event information is available on Career Networking Night website.

On Tuesday at 4:30 p.m., John Oppenheimer, chairman and founder of Columbia Hospitality, will deliver the Burtenshaw Lecture in the CUE 203. The lecture will be livestreamed and recorded on Zoom and available to watch on the Burtenshaw Lecture website.

Hospitality business management students may register to attend a three-course etiquette dinner at 6 p.m. in Todd 268 to practice business etiquette from around the world. Event information is available on the Etiquette Dinner website.
