The Washington State University Teaching Academy has presented two Teaching Conference Registration Awards to faculty to attend a conference, meeting, or workshop that directly enhances classroom teaching and/or the scholarship of teaching.

The 2024–25 recipients are:

  • June T. Sanders
Assistant professor of digital technology and culture, WSU Pullman
Sanders will attend and present individually and on a panel at the FATE Conference 2025 at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
  • Raven Weaver
Associate professor of human development, WSU Pullman
Weaver will attend, co-chair a symposium, and present an oral paper at the Gerontological Society of America Annual Conference; Academy for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) in Seattle.

The WSU Teaching Academy is made up of educators across WSU who have wide-ranging expertise in teaching-related areas and share goals to promote a university culture that values, supports, and rewards teaching excellence. Members resolve to be vital resources and advocates for fellow teaching faculty and graduate student teachers. They are expected to attend general meetings as their schedules permit and lead or participate in initiatives and committees according to their interests, skills, and availability.

The academy offers a book club open to all, and hosts a TEACHxWSU event each year focused on a special topic of interest and use to educators. A new member drive will be held this spring.
