PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University engineering and architecture alumna Sandra Kay Fryer of Orinda, Calif., was presented the WSU Foundation’s Outstanding Service Award during the foundation’s annual awards luncheon Oct. 3 on the Pullman campus.
Fryer has contributed many hours of time and effort to WSU and the WSU Foundation, including leading efforts to raise funds for two endowed scholarship funds at the university.
In addition to her fund-raising activity, Fryer serves on the WSU Foundation’s Board of Trustees and is a member of the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Advisory Board, College of Engineering and Architecture Advisory Board, and the External Industry Advisory Board at WSU.
“Sandy’s commitment to Washington State University and its College of Engineering and Architecture has been second to none,” said WSU Foundation President Richard Frisch. “Her efforts have been invaluable in helping to make WSU the world-class research institution it is today.”
Fryer, a 1969 WSU graduate, and husband Gary, a 1968 WSU graduate, own and operate Fryer Industries Inc. in Oakland, Calif. The Fryers were named benefactors of WSU this fall.
The WSU Foundation Outstanding Service Awards are given annually as a public testimonial to individuals who have made outstanding singular or collective contributions in service to the WSU Foundation and the university.
Also receiving Outstanding Service Awards in 2003 are Philip Abelson of Washington, D.C.; Doris Cleveland of Colbert; Floyd and Judy Rogers of Renton, and Skyler Smick of Brush Prairie.
