VANCOUVER, Wash.Washington State University Vancouver recently held its fifth annual scholarship luncheon, providing scholarship donors the opportunity to meet student recipients and hear from student speaker, Jennifer Burley, on the support her scholarships have provided her as she works toward a bachelor’s degree from WSU Vancouver. Former Washington State Representative Val Ogden and her husband Dan Ogden also spoke to the audience about their support to the university in the form of an endowed fellowship in public affairs.
WSU Vancouver awarded over 80 scholarships totaling more than $120,000 to students enrolled for the 2005-2006 academic year. Individual scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are supported by private gifts to WSU Vancouver from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations.
Five students were awarded scholarships this year from the LM Hidden Charitable Trust. The trust was formed by the Hidden family in January 1994, and recently Monte and Naomi Hidden were named as university benefactors for their generous donations to WSU, which have exceeded $100,000.
