Washington State University has earned the 2023 Tree Campus designation from the Arbor Day Foundation, a distinction it’s now held for a decade.
Two of WSU’s campuses are among 11 in Washington and more than 400 nationally to receive the recognition that debuted in 2008.
The designation is intended to recognize campuses where trees and green spaces are fundamental and beneficial to the experience of everyone who visits.
The Pullman campus has carried the Tree Campus designation for 10 years, with WSU Vancouver holding it for nine.
Volunteers spend time each year planting trees as part of the Tree Campus Higher Education Program. Last year alone, more than 168,000 trees were planted across the network of Tree Campuses.
