WSU names acting police chief for Pullman campus

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University has conducted formal investigations into allegations of employee misconduct within the WSU Police Department on the Pullman campus and is now following its appropriate employee disciplinary procedures. As part of this process, the university has temporarily reassigned the duties of a police officer and members of the WSU Pullman Police command staff. 

Victoria Murray, executive director for finance and administration, has been appointed Acting Associate Vice President for Public Safety, effective July 15. Murray will be responsible for providing overall management of WSU’s public safety functions. 

WSU Police Sgt. Dawn Daniels has been appointed acting chief of police for the department. Her appointment also took effect on July 15. Daniels will be leading the day‑to‑day operations of the department in the role of acting chief.

WSU expects all employees to uphold the highest standards of ethical behavior in the workplace. The university is committed to holding employees accountable when they are found to have fallen short of those standards.

Under university policy, personnel investigations are considered confidential.
