Nov. 19: Workshop on making, applying great compost

compostCARNATION, Wash. – The benefits of compost are well known, but making and using it well takes some know-how and planning. A Washington State University Extension compost workshop will be 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 19, at Oxbow Farm and Conservation Center, 10819 Carnation-Duvall Rd. NE, Carnation.

Seating is limited and pre-paid registration is required. Cost is $15 per person or $25 for two from the same farm. Visit http://CompostForFarmers.eventbrite.com for more information and to make reservations.

Participants will learn what constitutes high quality compost and how to make and apply it. They will benefit from lessons learned during WSU Extension’s extensive on-farm compost research trials. Oxbow Farm personnel will share their experiences making and using compost as they conduct a tour of the farm’s three-bin composting system.

The workshop is sponsored by WSU King County Extension, King Conservation District and King County. For more information, contact Kate Ryan, WSU Extension, at kate.ryan@wsu.edu or 425-357-6024.
