WSU Global Campus will transition to the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) in Fall 2021. At this time, Canvas will be fully implemented, and Blackboard will be retired and no longer available. We will continue to pilot Canvas in Spring 2021, and courses offered on WSU’s physical campuses will have the opportunity to participate in that pilot.

Global Campus is transitioning later than physical campuses, as Canvas will not be fully implemented and may still experience glitches. Further, several tools that are critical to the Global Campus online learning experience will not be integrated into the Canvas LMS until Fall 2021. Visit the LMS transition website for a full list of integrations not yet available in Canvas.

WSU’s Academic Outreach and Innovation (AOI) team is working to create a consistent learning experience for Global Campus students by offering a single LMS, minimizing the need for students to navigate two different platforms. Faculty teaching Global Campus courses will have the full support of AOI to transition courses to Canvas. The AOI design team will begin working with faculty in Spring 2021 to transition courses.

Blackboard will no longer be available on any WSU campuses starting in Fall 2021.
