Meet Provost finalist W. Andrew Marcus Thursday

Faculty, staff, and students system-wide are invited to meet and evaluate W. Andrew Marcus, the second of three finalists for the position of provost and executive vice president to visit WSU.

Marcus, currently a professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Oregon, will give a presentation and answer questions during a session open to the community from 9-10 a.m. on Thursday, April 25 in PACCAR 202 on the Pullman campus. The session will be livestreamed (WSU network id and password required) and broadcast to locations at each campus.

Marcus served as the Tykeson Dean of Arts and Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences at UO from 2016-2018 after serving as the college’s interim dean from 2013-2016. He oversaw the operations of 42 departments and programs and about 1,100 faculty and staff and 1,100 graduate employees. He partnered with staff and donors to raise more than $130 million for the college during his deanship.

Prior to joining UO, Marcus served in administrative and faculty positions at Montana State University, University of Maryland at College Park, University of Colorado and Arizona State University.

Marcus earned a doctorate in geography at the University of Colorado. He earned a master’s in geography at Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in geology at Stanford.
