PULLMAN, Wash. – Stacy M. Pearson, a senior administrator at Boise State University, has been selected as the new vice president for finance and administration at Washington State University.
She has served for 12 years in an equivalent position at BSU where she has been responsible for strategic leadership and accountability for financial, business and administrative operations of the university. She also supervised campus planning and facilities operations, development of the 2005 campus master plan and successful completion of the most aggressive building campaign in BSU history.
“We’re delighted to welcome Stacy to the Cougar family,” said WSU President Kirk Schulz. “She brings a wealth of expertise in managing both financial and administrative operations and campus planning and facilities operations to the university. We look forward to her leadership as we take WSU to new heights.”
Schulz said Pearson will start the job March 1.
“This is a very exciting time in the university’s history with a new president, new medical school and an ambitious strategic plan,” Pearson said. “I look forward to working with the faculty and staff to meet the Drive to 25 goal.”
Prior to her post at BSU, Pearson served eight years as that university’s associate vice president for finance and administration. She has been director of internal audit services for the Oregon University System and the Idaho State Board of Education.
She played a key role in Idaho higher education financial and administrative initiatives and served on the State Board of Education’s committees for Business Affairs and Human Resources, Audit and Athletics.
She is an active participant and presenter for regional and national higher education professional organizations including the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), the Education Advisory Board and Oracle’s Education and Research Industry Strategy Council. She is chair for NACUBO’s Council on Comprehensive/Doctoral Institutions.
Pearson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Idaho and a master’s of public administration degree from BSU. She is a certified public accountant and a commissioner for the Capitol City Development Corporation, Boise’s urban renewal agency. In 2013, she was named the Idaho Business Review’s Woman of the Year.
She assumes the position held by Roger Patterson, who left the university last year, and Olivia Yang, who has served on an interim basis.
