PULLMAN, Wash. – Limited care for pets of homeless and low-income owners will be provided by Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Riverpoint campus, E. 218 Spokane Falls Blvd., Spokane, Wash.

Services for up to 100 dogs and 100 cats will be provided. Care will be limited to a physical examination, vaccinations, boosters and deworming if indicated by a fecal test.
The team of veterinarians and WSU veterinary students will also examine small mammals, known as “pocket pets,” such as gerbils, Guinea pigs, hamsters and ferrets. Ferrets are the only exotic pets eligible to receive vaccinations.
Owners are asked to bring healthy, friendly pets properly restrained in a crate or cage or on a leash. Owners are encouraged to bring health records for their animals if they have them. A fresh stool sample must be provided if deworming is desired.
The clinic is an annual event supported in part by the American Animal Hospital Association. The event provides students a chance to increase their clinical skills under the guidance of veterinarians from WSU and the surrounding community.
