Washington State Music Teachers Association competition:
* Garrett Snedeker won in piano and Frankie Bones is alternate. Both study with Jeffrey Savage.
* Matthew Tatz won in brass performance and A.J. Achille is alternate. Both study with Christopher Dickey.
Snedeker and Tatz will compete in the Northwest regional competition in January.
Inland Empire Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition:
* Andrew Turner won first place among fourth- and fifth-year college men and Bogdan “Theo” Mynka won first among second-year college men.
* Kristina Gaumnitz won second place among first-year college women and Kiya Fife was second in the advanced college division.
These singers study with Julie Anne Wieck.
The WSU Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Danh Pham was selected to perform at the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle for more than 2,000 honor band students. Featured with the ensemble were the WSU Faculty Brass Quintet and clarinet professor Shannon Scott.
