Nov. 1: Research and student success initiative town hall

By Alyssa Patrick, Office of Research

PULLMAN, Wash. – Learn more about the research and student success projects recently funded by Washington State University at a town hall 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, in FSHN T101.

More than $29 million over five years was awarded in June by the Office of Research and provost to support multidisciplinary research projects and student success initiatives. The projects highlight and build on strengths that will accelerate WSU toward the goal of becoming a top 25 research institution.

Six projects are aligned with WSU’s Grand Challenges research priorities. Researchers from across campuses and colleges will collaborate to advance functional genomics, green stormwater infrastructure, health disparities studies, community health analytics, nutritional genomics and smart city technologies.

The Student Success through Transformational Change Initiative is aimed at building resilience, purpose and growth through both faculty support and parental interventions. Part of the initiative will integrate students in upper classes into peer mentor programming and advising, giving them increasingly experiential learning opportunities.
