Interim president to host open forum July 13

Bernardo-2013PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University interim President Dan Bernardo will host the first of two open forums for faculty and staff on the Pullman campus on Monday, July 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the CUB Jr. Ballroom.

The WSU Board of Regents named Bernardo interim president on Tuesday. He has served as acting president since the time of President Floyd’s death June 20. Bernardo has been WSU’s provost and executive vice president since May 2014.

“I want to make sure faculty and staff have an opportunity to have any questions they may have about how we are moving forward answered,” Bernardo said. “It is critical that we keep the lines of communication open in the coming months, and this is a first step in making that happen.”

The open forums will provide opportunities for the WSU community to inquire about the hiring process for WSU’s next president, and ongoing initiatives such as the new medical school, the Grand Challenges research initiative, WSU’s potential partnership with Bellevue College, and implementation of the University’s Strategic Plan. WSU faculty and staff are invited to listen, and ask questions.

A second open forum will be held Wednesday, July 22 from noon to 1:30, on the Pullman campus at a location to be determined.

Similar sessions will be held at WSU’s urban campuses at Vancouver, Tri Cities and Spokane later this summer.
