WSU was Wisconsin’s former foe at NCAA championship

1941-basketballPULLMAN, Wash. – The last time University of Wisconsin men’s basketball made it to the NCAA championship game was in 1941 – when it beat favored Washington State College (now University), coached by Jack Friel, 39-34.

The Wisconsin Badgers will play Duke at 6:18 p.m. today in Indianapolis for the 2015 national championship.

Friel coached WSC 1928-57. WSC became WSU in 1959.
