WSU will follow prohibition on public travel to Indiana

PULLMAN, Wash. – In accordance with a statewide directive issued by Gov. Jay Inslee on Monday, all state-funded travel by Washington State University to the state of Indiana is prohibited as long as the recently approved Religious Freedom Restoration Act exists in its current form.
“Washington State University’s commitment to mutual respect and inclusion for all people is deep and unwavering,” said WSU President Elson S. Floyd. “This ban is a way to communicate our concern and disagreement to the leaders of Indiana.”
Inslee called the Indiana law “disturbing, particularly at a time when more and more states and people in America are embracing civil rights for everyone. Washington will join other states and cities in opposing this law, and I will impose an administration-wide ban on state funded travel to Indiana.
“… We in Washington stand for equality,” he said. “I applaud those companies and organizations that have spoken out against the law and said they would not locate or expand operations.”
Questions about the prohibition at WSU should be channeled through area finance officers.
