Annual health fair to offer health screenings, vaccines

SPOKANE – Students from WSU’s Program in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, in partnership with the Riverpoint Campus Wellness Collaborative, will host Health Fair 2010 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21.

Located in the atrium of the Academic Center on the Riverpoint Campus, the fair is designed to educate and involve the campus and surrounding community in exploring healthy lifestyle choices. It features local vendors who represent recreational activities, healthy living, nutrition, health care organizations, fitness and more.
The annual event is free and open to the public.

During the fair, participants will have the opportunity to explore a variety of healthy activities including health screenings. The NEP students will be offering the following health screenings free of charge: blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, body composition/body fat analysis and the Rockport One Mile Fitness Test.

Students from the College of Pharmacy will offer seasonal flu vaccines for $25 to healthy people ages 18 and older who are not pregnant. Participants also will have the opportunity to donate blood, as the Inland Northwest Blood Center will be conducting the fall campus blood drive as well.
