Concert to feature faculty, benefit music scholarship fund

PULLMAN – The concert Masterworks for Flute, Cello and Piano will be presented as part of the WSU Faculty Artist Series at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, in Kimbrough Concert Hall. The concert will feature flutist Ann Marie Yasinitsky, cellist Ruth Boden and pianist Gerald Berthiaume, WSU School of Music faculty members.

 
The program will feature the music of French composers including Sonata No.1 in E minor by Francois Devienne , Sonate for ‘cello and piano by Claude Debussy, Agrestide for flute and piano by Eugene Bozza, and On a Clear Morning for flute, ‘cello and piano by Philippe Gaubert.
 
Yasinitsky is well known to Palouse audiences for her many concerto, chamber music and orchestral performances. She is featured as a soloist on the recently released CD Music From Six Continents, 2010 Series. She is a recipient of numerous awards and grants including a “Special Commendation” award in the Vienna Modern Masters Performers International Recording Competition and a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
 
Boden was recently featured as a soloist with the Coeur d’ Alene and Mid Columbia Symphonies. She is also the conductor of the WSU Symphony Orchestra.
 
Berthiaume, director of the WSU School of Music, has performed as soloist, accompanist and chamber musician both in the United States and abroad. He is a winner of the United States Information Agency Artistic Ambassador Competition. His solo and chamber music performances by can be heard on several labels: Albany Records, Vienna Modern Masters, Arizona University Recordings and Northeastern University Recordings.
 
General admission tickets are $10, senior citizens 60 and older are $5, non-WSU students are $5 and for WSU students with ID are free. All proceeds will benefit the WSU School of Music scholarship fund. Also, a season pass is available for all eight WSU Faculty Artist Series performances. Tickets will be available in the lobby one hour before concert time.
