
Anderson, a junior from Woodland Hills, Calif., won the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 49.33 seconds after having the fastest semifinals time of 48.85 Saturday. In the Sunday final, Anderson finished well ahead of the runner-up, Winder Cuevas from the Dominican Republic, who ran a time of 50.13, and Reggie White, USA/USC, who finished third in a time of 50.15.
Anna Layman, a WSU junior from the Spokane Valley finished third in the women’s 800m run with a time of 2-minutes, 5.39 seconds. Canadian Jessica Smith won the race in a time of 2:04.96 with Christina Rodgers of the USA in second place in a time of 2:05.00.
WSU Marissa Tschida (junior, Missoula, Mont.) finished as the top USA javelin thrower but third overall. Tschida tossed the spear 164-feet, 3 inches (50.07m) on her fifth of six throws. Canada’s Elizabeth Gleadle won with a toss of 176-3 (53.72m), and Fresa Nunez from the Dominican Republic was second with a throw of 174-3 (53.11m).
