PULLMAN, Wash. – Agnes Kirk, Washington state’s chief information security officer, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s WSU Cyber Security Awareness Summit, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, in the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center.

This is the second annual cyber-security summit, hosted by WSU Information Technology Services. The event is open to the public and strives to increase people’s understanding in managing engagement and risk in cyber community.

Kirk will speak at 9 a.m., with other industry officials speaking at hourly sessions.

Kirk provides policy and technology leadership for state government, and promotes cooperation and coordination between regional and national government and private sector organizations. She also advises the Governor and Legislature on key cyber issues, leads the state’s participation in national cyber security efforts and is a nationally recognized speaker on cyber security.

Kirk serves as:

  • A member of the Governor’s Domestic Security Executive Group.
  • Chair of the State of Washington Cyber Incident Response Center.
  • A member of the NASCIO CISO Advisory Committee.
  • Founding member of Washington’s Cyber Unified Coordination Group.
  • Co-founded the Pacific Northwest Alliance for Cyber Security.
  • A participant with Department of Homeland Security’s State, Local, Tribal, and Private Sector Policy Advisory Committee (SLTPS-PAC).
