Evelyn A. Augustin

SPOKANE, Wash. – Evelyn A. Augustin died March 26, 2017. She worked at WSU in the School of Food Science February 1975-August 1992.

Evelyn A. AugustinBorn in Syracuse, New York on May 17, 1930 she spent most of her early life there. The careers of her and her husband led to their moving westward until they settled in Spokane in 1993.

Evelyn earned her Ph.D. and thoroughly enjoyed her career as a professor of foods and nutrition at Syracuse University, Michigan State University where she met her husband Jorg, University of Illinois (Extension Service), Idaho State University and for the last 18 years of her teaching at Washington State University.

Her life in Spokane was filled with activities and volunteering. She earned her 10-year service pin for serving in the surgery waiting area at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital. She was also active in her church, Our Lady of Fatima, having served on the building committee for the new church and as chair of the Parish Council.
