PULLMAN, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will hold a regularly scheduled meeting March 23 and 24 at The Conference Center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport,
The meeting will be held in locations outlined in the schedule below.
Committee meetings will run throughout the afternoon. Starting times following the 1:15 pm committee meetings are estimates only. If a session ends earlier than expected, the next scheduled session may convene immediately.

The regents are expected to take action on a variety of items during the meeting, including:
- A proposal to establish three departments within the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication: the Department of Journalism and Media Production; the Department of Communication and Society; and the Department of Strategic Communication. The Bachelor of Arts in Communication has been renamed as separate degrees in Strategic Communication, Communication and Society, and Journalism and Media Production.
- A proposal to delegate to the president of the university or his designee, the authority to grant degrees in order to enhance service to students whose prospective employers require an official transcript before full consideration for employment or for those who are under consideration for graduate school admission.
- A proposal by the Regents’ Distinguished Alumnus/a Award Committee, to approve two candidates for consideration for the 2017 Regents’ Distinguished Alumnus/a Award.
- A proposal to adopt a faculty practice plan concept and delegate authority to the president or his designee to provide an organizational structure necessary for the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine to recruit and retain the highest quality faculty to deliver clinical services while providing community-based clinical education to students. The proposed practice plan would involve the creation of a separate non-profit entity to employ health care practitioners who would also hold adjunct faculty appointments in the College of Medicine.
