WSU Regents to hold regular meeting in Pullman May 7, 8

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Board of Regents of Washington State University will hold a regularly scheduled meeting May 7-8, on the WSU Pullman campus, Compton Union Building, Room 204, to consider action items, including the approval of the second phase of soccer field improvements on the Pullman campus, the renovation of the Old Bookie building to serve as a student services facility on the Pullman campus, the construction of a Student Union Building on the WSU Tri-City campus, and proposed services and activities fee increases ranging from zero to seven percent across all WSU campuses for the coming school year.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. May 7 with a special meeting of the Students Book Corporation, followed by consecutive meetings of the Regents’ Executive Committee, the Regents’ Finance & Audit, Academic and Student Affairs, and External Affairs committees. Each committee session will convene immediately following the completion of the previous session. All four sessions are scheduled to conclude prior to 4:15 p.m.

The Regents will re-convene at the same location at 8 a.m. on May 8 to initially hear reports, including reports from the WSU Foundation, the WSU Faculty Senate, Associated Students of WSU, Graduate and Professional Student Association, WSU Administrative Professional Advisory Council, and WSU Alumni Association.

The Regents are expected to take action on recommendations including:

  • The approval of Phase 2 Soccer Field Improvements on the Pullman campus with a total budget not to exceed $1,600,000.
  • The authorization to proceed to design and construction of a renovation of the Old Bookie building on the Pullman campus with a total budget not to exceed $32,000,000.
  • The approval of a Student Union Building project on the WSU Tri-City campus with a total budget not to exceed $5,730,000.
  • The authorization to increase Services and Activities Fees (and S&A-like fees) by between zero and seven percent for all WSU campuses for the academic year 2015-2016.
  • Approval of the establishment of a major in Forestry, under the approved Bachelor of Science in Earth and Environmental Sciences, effective in the Fall of 2015.
