5K-race-logo-webRICHLAND, Wash. – Textbooks don’t come cheap, so the Associated Students of Washington State University Tri-Cities hosts a fundraiser to help students purchase books.

The fifth annual Fund the Future 5K Run will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 18, on the paved path along the Columbia River, Urban Greenbelt Trail, behind WSU Tri-Cities. A brunch will follow at 11 a.m.

Walkers are welcome. For serious runners, Budu Racing will provide timing chips. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers.

Register the day of the race at 7:45 a.m. in front of the West building, 2710 Crimson Way, Richland, or preregister for less through April 15 at http://GoCougs.WSUFoundation.WSU.edu/5KFundTheFuture.

Registration fees:
• General public: $20 preregistered, $25 day of race.
• WSU Tri-Cities alumni: $15 preregistered, $20 day of race.
• WSU Tri-Cities students and employees: $10 preregistered, $15 day of race.
• Kids ages 6-12: $10
• Kids 5 and under: Free, and strollers are welcome. The 50-yard dash is immediately before the race start, so arrive by 8:30 a.m. A bounce house will be set up.

The Tri-City Court Club, Bluewood Ski Resort, Runner’s Soul, Greenies, the Tri-Cities Dust Devils and Trot Therapeutic Riding have donated prizes.
