Finalists named in search for Carson College of Business dean

PULLMAN, Wash. – Four candidates have been selected as finalists for the position of dean of Washington State University’s Carson College of Business and invited to attend open sessions on the Pullman campus. The search committee and WSU Provost’s Office is encouraging faculty, staff and students to attend each of the candidate sessions, the schedules for which will be published in WSU Announcements as soon they become available.

The four finalists for dean are Larry “Chip” Hunter, senior associate dean for the Wisconsin School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Mark Weiser, regents service professor and founding director, Center for Telecommunications and Network Security, Oklahoma State University; P. Chris Earley, James Brooke Henderson chair in Management, Purdue University; and David Whidbee, interim dean, Carson College of Business, Washington State University.

The search committee was appointed this past August and is co-chaired by Darrel Muehling, chair of the Department of Marketing and International Business, and Jerman Rose, interim vice provost for International Programs and special assistant to the provost.

Other search committee members are Chris Burdett, vice chair, Carson College of Business National Board of Advisors and senior vice president, CBRE Hotels; Jane Cote, associate professor of Accounting and academic director of Business, WSU Vancouver; George Jiang, professor and Brinson chair, Department of Finance & Management Science; Mark Hansen, chair, Carson College of Business National Board of Advisors and principal, Bayview Arc, Inc.; Justin Marquart, chief development officer, Carson College of Business; Marie Mayes, director, Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, Department of Management, Information Systems and Entrepreneurship; Nancy Swanger, associate dean, Undergraduate Programs, and director, School of Hospitality Business Management; and Arvin Sahaym, associate professor, Department of Management, Information Systems, and Entrepreneurship.

The search committee expects to provide numerous opportunities for the candidates to interact with the WSU community at large during their visits and encourages students, faculty and staff to provide feedback on each of the finalists through the provost’s office.
