Oct. 3: Distinguished scholarship recipients to be celebrated

PULLMAN, Wash–Over the past century, more than 100 Washington State University students and alumni have received prestigious, nationally competitive scholarships that bear such famous names as Rhodes, Fulbright, and Goldwater. On Friday, Oct. 3, the WSU Distinguished Scholarships Program in the Office of Undergraduate Education will host two events to honor them.

The WSU community and the public is invited to a 3:30 p.m. ceremony on the ground level of the Compton Union Building (CUB) to dedicate the permanent, new WSU Distinguished Scholars Gallery.   Goldwater Foundation President W. Franklin Gilmore and several scholarship winners from WSU will be special guests.

A Distinguished Scholars Gathering, where scholarship winners will visit with students interested in awards, will precede the dedication at 2 p.m. in room 518 of the Smith Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE). All students are welcome.
