RICHLAND, Wash. – Applications are due Friday, Feb. 28, for an internship program that matches Washington State University Tri-Cities students with small businesses and nonprofit agencies.
Businesses, not-for-profit organizations and public agencies located in Benton or Franklin counties are invited to apply for an intern. Preference is given to projects with for-profit businesses that employ fewer than 50 employees and have been operating at least one year.
Intern candidates will be interviewed by the business, with placements finalized by mid-April. While the schedule depends upon the needs of the business, most internships will begin in mid-May and be completed by the end of July.
Sponsored by Washington River Protection Solutions, the Advanced Internship Program provides students with paid summer work that is relevant to their academic majors. It also provides local businesses and agencies with affordable help to tackle special projects, such as a social media marketing plan, software testing or coding, human resources manual development, environmental restoration plan and more.
WRPS supports the growth of small businesses in the community by covering the costs of these WSU Tri-Cities internships. Participating businesses pay $150 toward program expenses, while payroll costs are covered by the WRPS donation.
