PULLMAN, Wash. – Students, employees and community members are invited to serve and learn during Martin Luther King, Jr. events hosted by the Center for Civic Engagement at Washington State University.
MLK service projects Jan. 18-20 include horse care with Orphan Acres, food sorting with Community Action Center, civil rights archiving with White Springs Ranch, habitat restoration with Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute, crafts and socialization with seniors at Avalon Care Center and youth mentoring with the Albion After School Program. A free public forum about activism will be at noon Thursday, Jan. 23, in Butch’s Den (CUB L60).
“Never, never be afraid to do what’s right…” said Martin Luther King, Jr. “Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way.”
The forum will include panel discussion and stories from WSU students about their experiences as activists.
