Emergency crews responding to reported natural gas leak

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Pullman Fire Department and crews from Avista Utilities are currently on the scene and continuing the repair of an underground natural gas line leak near Cleveland and Heald halls on the campus of Washington State University.

The leak was reported at approximately 7:15 a.m. this morning after the line was apparently struck by a construction crew working in the area, and has now been resolved.  The area will remain cordoned off by WSU Police until repairs are completed.

An emergency alert warning students, faculty and staff to stay clear of the area of the leak was issued by phone and by e-mail shortly following the report of the leaking gas line.

WSU Police say there have been no injuries. Access to the area will remain closed until further notice.
