PULLMAN, Wash. – Vicki Croft, head of the Animal Health Library at Washington State University, recently received the Founders Award from the International Conference of Animal Health Specialists.Since its founding in 1992, ICAHIS has been a forum for colleagues worldwide to discuss, share and promote animal health information access. It is part of the One Health initiative, a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment.
Croft is an ICAHIS founder, has served on five of the seven conference planning committees and has co-chaired two. She has co-authored 11 papers for six of the conferences and presented posters at three.
She was co-author of a recent paper in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Information, “A History of the International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists (ICAHIS) and its Partnership in One Health.”
With Kay Vyhnanek, WSU scholarly communication librarian, Croft created a permanent repository for the first five conferences at https://research.wsulibs.wsu.edu:8443/xmlui/handle/2376/1376
Located with the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Animal Health Library is part of WSU Libraries.
“Vicki has not only been at the forefront in animal health and One Health, but has also been a leader in helping low and middle income countries gain access to library resources and information,” said Guy Palmer, founding director of the Paul G. Allen School for Global Animal Health at WSU. “Her work has made a difference.”
