PULLMAN, Wash. – The Washington State University men’s basketball team will take on the Oregon State Beavers at 7 p.m. tonight in the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational.
 
This will be the fourth time this season that the Cougars (17-16) and Beavers (21-14) have matched up on the hardwood. WSU won the first to games, with OSU winning the last contest and knocking Cougars out of the PAC-12 playoffs.
 
The game will be played in OSU’s Gill Coliseum, televised on HDNet, and broadcast on the 
Cougar Radio Network with Bud Nameck’s call. Updates also will be provided on Twitter by following @WSUHoopsBlog, the official Twitter account of WSU men’s basketball.
 
The winner will meet the either Pittsburgh or Butler in the championship round.
 
WSU AGAINST THE BEAVERS:
• The Cougars trail the all-time series with the Beavers, 122-163.
• WSU leads the series 76-60 in Pullman, but trails the series 99-40 in Corvallis…Oregon State leads the series 6-3 in neutral site matchups.
• Head coach Ken Bone is 5-3 all-time against the Beavers and 5-2 as the head coach at Washington State…he lost to Oregon State once prior to becoming the coach at WSU.
• The Cougars swept the regular season series this year, before falling to the Beavers in the first round the Pac-12 Tournament in Los Angeles.
• WSU has won 10 of the last 13 matchups with OSU and four of the last five.
• The last six matchups in Corvallis have been decided by an average of 6.8 points while the last four games being decided by a combined 4 points.
• In the first matchup of the season, WSU secured its first Pac-12 victory with an 81-76 defeat of the Beavers in Spokane.
• Brock Motum led WSU with 26 points and eight rebounds.
• Reggie Moore had a then-season high nine assists.
• DaVonté Lacy finished with 18 points…he had his two highest scoring games this season in back-to-back games (19 against Oregon in the previous game).
• In addition, the Cougars shot .538 from the field and made a season-high 17 field goals in the first half.
• In the second meeting, WSU controlled the first 30 minutes en route to an 83-73 victory in Corvallis.
• Moore finished with a season-high 11 assists…he had nine of his assists in the first half.
• Moore’s 11 assists are his most in a conference game…he had his first double-double of the season with 10 points, the second of his career.
• D.J. Shelton scored a career-high 14 points…he added a career-high nine rebounds…Shelton’s previous high for points was nine the first time against Oregon State this season (Dec. 31).
• With 83 points, WSU scored its most points since scoring 93 against Santa Clara, Dec. 11…the most in a Pac-12 game this season (scored 81 against OSU the first time and Stanford).
• The Cougars got their first road win of the season and first season series sweep.
• In the third matchup of the season, the Cougars fell to Oregon State for the first time this season in Los Angeles in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament.
• Reggie Moore had his third career double-double and second of the season with 10 points and 10 assists…Moore has had 30 combined assists in the three games against the Beavers this season.
• Moore passed Taylor Rochestie (2008) to move into second on WSU’s single-season assists list and now has (160 coming in).
• Marcus Capers tied his season high with 14 points, two shy of his career high of 16 done two years ago in the Pac-10 Tournament…he added a team-best eight rebounds.
• Brock Motum had six rebounds, reaching the 200-rebound plateau for the season…he becomes just the third Cougar to notch 500 points and 200 rebounds in a single-season joining Steve Puidokas (1974-75) and Larry Beck (1955-56).
