PULLMAN, Wash. – “Jumping genes” are the research focus of Wenfeng An, assistant professor in the Washington State University School of Molecular Biosciences.
 
These genes, which are able to multiply and move to different genomic locations, are responsible for a wide variety of genetic outcomes, ranging from the rainbow hues seen in Indian corn to sporadic cases of colon cancer or hemophilia A.
