Nominate a Student to be a Multicultural Student Mentor

Multicultural Student Services is now accepting mentor applications and nominations from faculty and staff for its Multicultural Student Mentor Program.

The Multicultural Student Mentor Program (MSMP) assists multicultural (freshmen & transfer) students in adjusting to the WSU environment. Student mentors provide assigned mentees with personalized and sensitive support for academic, personal, and social development.

Mentors must successfully complete UCOLL 497 and are required to put in 90 hours of per a semester (6 hours/week).

Mentors who participate in the MSMP receive academic credit, a scholarship, and the opportunity to enhance their cross-cultural and mentoring/leadership skills. Most importantly, they have the rewarding privilege to help fellow students.

The application can be found online at https://mss.wsu.edu/default.asp?PageID=1969.  The process includes an online application form and essay.

The deadline for submission is November 7.

To nominate a student for a mentor position, email Rachel Leingang at rachel.leingang@wsu.edu with the student’s name, your name, and the student’s email address.
