Barb Krahn recognized with Vancouver staff excellence award

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Barb Krahn, facilities and operations custodian, was recognized with the 2010-2011 WSU Vancouver Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence for “leading by extraordinary example.”

Nominators said Krahn is always looking to do the very best job. She worries aloud that some detail will be missed because having fewer colleagues puts more pressure on her team to work faster and accomplish more every day.
In recent years, Krahn has had extraordinary family medical challenges to overcome, including her own health issues. Throughout it all, she has maintained her dedication to the Vancouver campus and to her work.
“She has incredible perseverance and not only puts her best effort into every detail of her job, but also goes the extra mile for others,” said Lynn Valenter, WSU Vancouver interim chancellor.
Each summer, staff members are nominated by their colleagues for the Chancellor’s Award for Staff Excellence. The winner is selected by a committee.
