Undergrad researchers eligible for Auvil fellowships

PULLMAN, Wash. – The Undergraduate Research Program at Washington State University is accepting online applications from students seeking 2011-12 Auvil Scholars Fellowship awards.

Students in any grade from all majors who are conducting research, scholarship and creative activities with a mentoring faculty member are eligible.

The awards, which typically range up to $1,000, have been presented to more than 100 students since 2006. In fall 2010, for example, 34 students from across the university received Auvil funds.

The fellowships were created thanks to an estate gift from WSU alumnus Grady and Lillie Auvil, Wenatchee tree-fruit entrepreneurs.

Student applications should be posted online by 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at http://AuvilScholars.wsu.edu. More information on the Undergraduate Research Program is at http://UndergraduateResearch.wsu.edu
